Is it just me, or is it hard to find novels that are different compared to each other without the variety of them having to be a mystery/crime, and romance/fantasy?

I’ve been reading the Gunnie Rose series by Charlaine Harris. It’s an alternate Earth taking place in the country of Texoma where FDR was assassinated before he was sworn in and the USA broke apart. Again, quite good. I also recently read her Midnight Crossroads, which was a lot of fun in a darker way.

I’ve been reading The Apothecary Diaries series by Natsu Hyuuga with Book 5 on pre-order. Takes place in a fictional country similar China during the time of the emperors, probably 17th century. Again, quite good.

No. I just read The Familiar by Leigh Bardugo. Classifies as fantasy, but not romantasy like the fad seems to be now Takes place in Spain during the reign of King Philip and the time of the Inquisition. Quite good.

What should I be looking for when trying out running shoes? Local store lets me try the shoe and jog up and down the block, but they mostly feel the same to me. Is there some feeling or anything else specific I should be looking for?
